Balmoral Resources Appoints Henk van Alphen and Lawrence Talbot to Board of Directors

 
Apr 01, 2010 Vancouver, BC - Balmoral Resources Ltd. ("Balmoral" or the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Henk van Alphen and Mr. Lawrence Talbot to its Board of Directors. Concurrent with the appointment of the new Directors, Gerald Salberg will step down as President and Chief Executive Officer and Mr. van Alphen will be appointed President and Chief Executive Officer on an interim basis. Mr. Salberg will remain a Director of the Company. In addition, the Company is pleased to announce the appointment of Christopher Cherry as interim Chief Financial Officer.

Henk van Alphen has been in the mining business for 24 years. He began his career as a successful exploration/drilling contractor, and then became the President of Pacific Rim Mining Corp. ("Pacific Rim") where he laid the foundation for Pacific Rim to become a successful South American based resource company. He served as Vice-President of Corriente Resources Inc. from 1994 to 1999, following which he became the President of Cardero Resources Corp. ("Cardero") in 1999, the cornerstone of the Cardero Group of companies.

Lawrence W. Talbot is a mining lawyer with over 23 years experience representing a wide range of clients in the mining industry, from individual prospectors and junior and mid-size explorers and producers through to major mining companies, in both the hard-rock and industrial mineral fields. He has extensive experience acting for public natural resource companies and providing advice on all aspects of their businesses, including corporate finance, securities and regulatory matters, corporate governance and shareholder issues, and all aspects of corporate acquisitions, takeovers, divestitures and reorganizations. He is a director and/or officer of a number of public natural resource companies, including Cardero, International Tower Hill Mines Ltd. ("ITH"), Wealth Minerals Ltd., Gold Port Resources Ltd., Caerus Resource Corp. and Remstar Resources Ltd. Prior to July 1, 2006, he was a partner in one of Canada's largest law firms, and now acts as general counsel to a select group of public companies, including Cardero and ITH.

Christopher Cherry has over eight years experience as an accountant and auditor with KPMG and Davidson & Company in Vancouver. He achieved the Certified General Accountant designation in August 2004 and the Chartered Accountant designation in February 2009.

The Company also announces the resignations of Messrs. Wayne Shaw and William Dell'Orfano and wishes to thank both Mr. Shaw and Mr. Dell'Orfano for their tenure.

Balmoral is currently evaluating a number of mineral exploration and development opportunities in the Americas.
